The Monash Health Design Jam is a joint initiative between Monash Health and Isobar, with the aim of starting momentum for change in health care. The initiative uses a collaborative design-led approach to solving complex problems for chronically ill teenagers.
The Jam comprised of Isobar-led workshops away from the hospital and business-as-usual, to look at how design thinking could help improve the lives and care of vulnerable adolescents.
Groups were formed comprising of experience designers, hospital staff, patients and families.
The starting point was helping chronically-ill teenagers with their day-to-day challenges. Experiences were shared through card sorting and storyboarding to determine the key pain points in patient’s lives. Isobar then led the groups to collaborate on problem-solving ideas, prototyping the most viable solutions.
By the end of the day the team at Monash had a variety of prototype concepts to further explore. The team at Isobar are in discussions with Monash Health to bring the ideas to life, enabling real impact and change.
