Weet-Bix Kids TRYAthlon Series

The Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon is the largest under 16 triathlon in the world, attracting 40,000 participants across Australia and New Zealand. The event is a philosophical and financial commitment by Sanitarium to inspire children to get off the couch and stay active. Team Epic built an event program based on participation not competition. This enabled a greater funnel for registration and ultimately participation. It also ensured that the fun and enjoyment elements of the day were maximised. In tandem with this, was the creation of a team of TRYathlon Ambassadors – leading sportsmen and women who were used promotionally to inspire kid’s interest in advance of the event and reward participation at the event. With ambassadors such as Brett Lee, Tim Cahill and Stephanie Gilmore we were able to leverage the Weet-Bix media spend to secure outside broadcasts, bonus air time and TV production, at no cost. ANZ has been the Principal Sponsor of the ANZ Championship since inception in 2008. The objective of the 2014 brief was to re-fresh the campaign, demonstrating ANZ’s support of netball from the grassroots to the elite. Our challenge was to demonstrate the role ANZ has to play at every level of netball, and to help netballers across the nation nurture and share their love of the game. To do this, we created something much bigger than a campaign. We created the “Netball Nation”. Netball Nation is an integrated digital/real-world idea, utilising multiple platforms and channels to create an all-inclusive environment for everyone to fall in love with, and play netball. Netball Nation is an overarching strategic platform that unifies all assets and conversations around netball, connecting the professional to the junior players, the supporters and social netballers, and all of them to ANZ, through their shared passion.
