The Story Lab tells brand stories. Australia Post Instagram and Pinterest strategy

In July 2014, The Story Lab was tasked with developing Australia Post’s Instagram and Pinterest strategies. Taking their cues from Australia Post’s new positioning statement, Australia Connected, The Story Lab created their content strategy with a people-first focus, capturing and sharing those little moments in everyday life to highlight and celebrate the diversity that ironically, binds our nation together. These beautifully captured moments invite viewers to pour their personal experiences into the image and connect, if but for a moment, in truly meaningful way. Building belief in Australia Post products and services one Instagram post and Pinterest board at a time, The Story Lab is slowly but surely helping Australia Post establishing a social presence that reflects the brand’s evolution as a contemporary digital business.

Grand Prix Media Launch 2014

The Australian Grand Prix is a well-established event in Melbourne’s sporting calendar, but the sporting capital has never seen Formula 1 vehicles flying overhead before! This year, The Story Lab was asked to help create a memorable and eye-catching spectacle for the launch of the event. Taking to the skies, our team mounted just about every camera they could find on the flying F1 machine, while also shooting footage from a second helicopter. This footage was shot pre-event, and additional content was captured on the day of the launch to create a seamless experience for the attendees, and a compelling video news release for the media. As you could imagine, it was one of the most successful Grand Prix media launches to date.

In June this year, The Story Lab team of Nathan Kaso (cinematographer) and Tim Melville (Director) packed their long johns and travelled to Tasmania to shoot a time lapse video for Holden’s Cruze Z Series. The auto manufacturer wanted to create a sharable and memorable video for its savvy social media audience. Working with our digital agency partner, Isobar, the team braved frostbite-like conditions to create a stunning time lapse video that captures the Holden Cruze Z series vehicles weaving their way through the barren hills of Queenstown and through the streets of Hobart. The high altitude and low population made this the perfect location to capture the time lapse imagery. All it, it took seven nights to capture the 20,000 still images that makes this video so compelling to watch.

In August 2014, The Story Lab was tasked with helping pharmaceutical company, Baxter Laboratories, strengthen and expand their brand presence in the Chinese market. Focusing on what makes Baxter Laboratories’ better than competing international brands – namely: Australia’s pristine, unpolluted natural resources – The Story Lab developed a compelling narrative that follows a Baxter Laboratory scientist as he goes about his morning routine in the beautiful Dandenong Ranges. A carefully crafted, sparingly worded script allows the film’s setting to really tell the story, as the spectacular Victorian countryside brings the Baxter Laboratories story to life in stunning cinematic style. This short film was shown in Australia and South East Asia, with the script translated into three languages.
