dentsu X Australia announces new leadership

dentsu X Australia today announces the appointment of Sam Hegg to the role of National Managing Director, effective January 2019.

Angela Tangas, who has been leading the business since February, has been appointed to the newly-created role of Executive Director of Business Operations, Dentsu Aegis Network (DAN), ANZ. Tangas will lead DAN’s new Shared Capability Services division – a client first, solution led, Centre of Excellence within the business.

Under Tangas’ leadership, dentsu X has been overhauled to focus on cross-channel specialisation and expertise to deliver value throughout and beyond the customer journey; resulting in a number of key client wins, including Jaguar Land Rover and Australia Post.

In line with this transition, Hegg has been promoted to National Managing Director of dentsu X Australia from Carat, where he has been an instrumental member of the team for nearly a decade – most recently as Chief Strategy Officer.

Speaking of the appointments, Luke Speers, HR Director, Dentsu Aegis Network said, “It gives me great pleasure to announce the promotion of two of our most exciting, and dynamic leaders. Sam’s extensive history within the Network, sales orientated background, exceptional strategic capabilities, and leadership style will complement and advance the dentsu X team as they continue their growth trajectory.

“Additionally, Angela’s experience driving digital and operational transformation multiple times prior to joining DAN, further demonstrated through the key role she has played in the organisation this year, makes her an exceptional candidate to lead and develop this new offering for DAN.”

Speaking of the appointment, Sam Hegg commented, “I’m privileged to have been part of an amazing growth story since joining Carat in 2009 – working with great people and clients, while Dentsu Aegis Network has continued to transform.

“This opportunity to join and lead dentsu X is an exciting new chapter for me. Locally, the business has been evolving the way it delivers ‘experience beyond exposure’, by unlocking value throughout and beyond the customer journey. I am excited to take the business into its next phase of growth, with the continued support of the Network.”

Hegg will take on the role from January 2019, at which time he will become a member of the DAN Board.  Until that point, Tangas will hold a dual role and continue to lead the dX team.
